Be the performer you dream to be in a dramatic summer with HTY
Our summer programs focus on the creative development of our young participants. We desire to provide both a professional and engaging experience throughout the summer that ends with an entertaining performance and we are most dedicated to cultivating the individual artist in each of the young participants. We build their skill with and understanding of theatre by guiding them to create original scenes and plays. We want them to not only memorize dialogue, but create original characters and dialogue that truly makes the performance a reflection of their creativity.
Registration Notes:
- Registrations are processed on a first come, first served basis.
- Payment is required to secure your child(ren)’s place in the program.

SUMMER DRAMA ADVENTURE
For Keiki ages 7-9
This summer’s theme is…STILL AWAKE! Sleepy Time Stories
This summer, we’re getting tucked into some amaZzzing stories and turning them into a play!
Sometimes they calm us. Sometimes they keep us awake! Sleepy time tales may be super simple or elaborately epic. Magical, spooky, or gloriously goofy!
Like everything great, however, it takes a whole team to transform these tales to the stage. Together, we will dream up the words on the pages and imagine the characters, create the action and dialog, as we become creative collaborators and perform for families and friends.
We may be sleepy, but we’re never dull! Don’t snooze- come join the fun!
‘TWEEN SCENE
For Keiki ages 10-13
This summer’s theme is…CELESTIAL STORIES: Tales of the Constellations
Look into the night sky. Can you see it? Right there! A giant spoon! And over there is a warrior’s belt and a giant scorpion! The twinkle of stars fills the night, shining and shimmering in shapes that inspire engaging stories. The constellations are filled with wonder and whimsy, inviting all who look to them to imagine their story.
This summer, the ‘Tween Scene ensemble will imagine, create, and perform such celestial tales! Come, stretch your imagination and build collaborative skills. Explore the joy of flashlights and shadow screens, and join us as we stargaze with “Celestial Stories: Tales of the Constellations.”
Each drama day will be divided into two parts:
Whole group activities for skill building
Activities that build body and voice expression as well as performative skills. We will play improvisational games and explore how to use space. All you need to bring is a willingness to try new things, step out of your comfort zone sometimes and take creative risks. Be ready to work with new friends and to share and embrace ideas.
Small Group Story Building
Small teams will work together on creating story scenes using the skills they’ve been developing.
Imagining the story. The team members will create action and blocking and even write their own dialog!
The summer will culminate in a performance where each group performs their own scene to help tell the story. The heart of the program is on the creative process and creativity building.
